An etherified cassava-starch powder designed to improve rheology, anti-sagging and workability of dry-mix mortars — used in synergy with HPMC.
HPS is made from natural cassava (tapioca) starch through etherification and spray-drying. The resulting white fine powder is cold-water soluble and plasticizer-free. It is widely combined with HPMC in cement, gypsum and lime-based systems to optimise rheology and reduce overall formulation cost.

| Property | Typical Value |
|---|---|
| Appearance | White fine powder |
| pH (3.75% aqueous solution) | 9.0 ~ 11.0 (mildly alkaline) |
| Solubility | Cold-water soluble |
| Fineness | < 350 µm |
| Viscosity (5% aqueous solution, Brookfield) | 400 ~ 1,200 mPa·s |
| Moisture | < 5% |
| Packaging | 25 kg PP woven bag |
Note: HPS is not a replacement for HPMC. Its water retention is weaker than HPMC; it must be used together with HPMC to deliver the full performance expected of a dry-mix system.
A co-binder for dry-mix systems — used together with HPMC to improve rheology, anti-sag and knife feel across putty, tile adhesive and plastering mortar.
